Brúarfoss is a gem of a waterfall north of Reykjavik – it means “Bridge Falls” referring to a natural stone bridge which was apparantly destroyed in 1602 by a minion of the episcopal see to keep starving peasants off the church’s lands. Religious mischief notwithstanding, it’s a gorgeous spot if you can find it!
